Anyone can practice yoga. Movement or stillness, everything begins and ends with the breath. It is not becoming the present that is challenging. It is the return to the mat and the continuous search for 'present' that is challenging. I discovered yoga about six years ago, but have been searching for
it for my whole life. A big peace came from skydiving. From the moment
I climbed into the plane until I had landed, my mind was completely
engaged. I was in the moment. I became the moment. All other layers
of thought were shut down. When I discovered that same space with
yoga, I felt I had found my passion. Maria has taught yoga in Calgary and Springbank for three years so far and has studied with David Williams, Yoga Passage, and the YWCA. |
